8 Quick and Easy Tips for Effective Weight Loss

When I meet people at speaking engagements or even when I’m checking my email I always get similar questions repeatedly. One of those questions is: do you have any tips for me?

Yes, I have tips. In fact I have so many tips I wrote a book about it. But in those moments people want quick answers and quick solutions. The first thing you have to understand is that there is no quick fix to obesity. It takes time to repair the physical, mental and emotional scars that you are dealing with. I have however, compiled some tips to help get you on the right track.

The reason people want quick tips for weight loss is that they don’t think they can keep up with what they have mandated for themselves when it comes to diets and other healthy lifestyle techniques. It takes too long or it’s too hard and they want to give up. For these people, and others who are unsure about how to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle, the following eight tips will start you on the right path.

1.) Change your mindset. Until you develop a positive outlook and believe every day that you will succeed, you will continue to fail.

2.) Face the root causes of your weight. There is always more going on than, “I just like to eat”.

3.) Separate who you really are from what you look like on the outside. Be your true self and achieve your goals by staying immune to negativity, criticism or judgement.

4.) Stop dieting. Never say that you are “going on a diet”. Instead, change your diet. The sum of all things you choose to consume make up your diet. Change the things that you choose to eat at all times every day. Make better choices and maintain a healthy diet.

5.) Keep a food diary and count your calories. It sounds like work, but you need to be aware of everything you are putting into your body.

6.) Schedule exercise into your day. Put it on the calendar like an appointment and stick to it.

7.) Congratulate yourself for every victory (no matter how small) and forgive yourself for every failure.

8.) Take time once a week to give yourself a break. The process of losing weight is not meant to be strict and rigid. It’s a lifelong process and you can allow yourself times to relax.

    The one thing to add here is to keep patience. People lose patience when they dont see result. You can not lose weight overnight. You need to keep patience for that, the thing will happen but it will take time.
